This course has taught me a lot over the summer period and it has made me realize a lot about the reading and writing situation in my society. I have learned a number of strategies that i will definitely use on my return to the teaching arena particularly the comic strips and anticipation guides which are my favourites . a very interactive course and i must comment my teacher miss Polius for making the teaching experience not only a productive one but a fun filled one. Your timely feedback on assignments was greatly appreciated as well as the practice with the past papers was indeed helpful. The online discussion board although not new to me was indeed helpful and thank god that there are no copy right rules here because i will certainly use my fellow classmates responces to help me during my study period as well as during the examination Thanks for the luck in the exam miss and i wish you all the best and continue the good work TO ALL MY CLASSMATES JOB WELL DONE AND GOOD LUCK IN YOUR EXAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D

Where can I begin!!!! A great THANK YOU to Miss Polius for being so patient and daring with us. I must say that I have accomplished a lot in this course. It allowed me to strengthen my originality and creativity which has made me grow as a person. The approaches used in the deliberation of this course are highly appreciated. I must commend you on the "multiplicity of texts" used. It has enlightened me on many alternatives which can be undertaken in my classroom in making it more student centred. Most of all, this class is very lucky; as we got a lecturer who "PRACTICE WHAT SHE PREACHES." *round of a applause* Ms Polius made the teaching learning experience more authentic since we got the opportunity to experience it ourselves. I believe that this will allow us to better deliberate and utilize the activities, strategies and approaches used in pedagogy. To my lovely classmates , once again it was an honour sharing this experience with you all. I cannot imagine better personalities sharing this experience with me. You have all done a marvelous job in your deliberations and productions. It was a great learning experience. I just pray that God continues to guide us in our endeavors. I love you all and will continue keeping you all in my prayers

Ms. Polius, I learned a lot. I found this course to be rather challenging initially but you made it very practical for all of us to understand the content. I think you were very business oriented, and strategic in your time management. One hiccup was that the course assignment sheet had too many loop holes that needed to be clarified.
This course was very helpful and gave me a new perspective on reading and literacy.
Thank You From the quiet one

Oh yes indeed it was an interactive course. This course made the summer program well spent. Miss your teaching was clear and i don't need to do much cramming for exams lol. I can remember many of the strategies "off my head". I enjoyed the class. Although I thought siting in class for 2 hours and also having to comment in the forum was a bit much, but it was all worth it. I learned from both ends.
Miss Polius have a great summer and continue providing students with the support they require. Thanks a lot.
To my classmate whoop whoop we are coming to the end of year one finallllllllllllllly. All the best on your exam/s. Have a great summer.

Thank you Miss Polius for you timely feedback on assignments and opportunities to engage in various activities which enabled me to learn so much. Your activities and engagements kept me awake and not only did I learn from the activities and content of the course but the way you went about teaching, explaining and questioning. Thank you for the last review session, the practicum and this opportunity online where I learnt so much from colleagues. Job well done.

A special thanks to Ms Polius for guiding us through the course EDCL 201. I must say that this course has changed my life in a great way. Everything learnt in EDCL will definitely be used and applied in one way or another. Knowledge is nothing if we don’t share, therefore I want to encourage everyone to do something about such great wealth of knowledge that we received during this course. Completing the tasks was not always easy but with the support of Ms. Polius and additional assistance from other students made life a lot easier. The teaching methods employed in the course were excellent. We did not stick to the traditional way of the teaching and learning process. We students, were engaged and responsible for most of our learning. This helped us to become more independent learners. Although I was not always willing to participate, however with the classroom environment and the interaction and passion of all students left me with no choice but to be motivated and contribute towards a very informative class. I would definitely recommend this course to all secondary teachers. It will definitely improve the effectiveness of formal instruction.

I guess it would be remiss of me to end this semester without expressing my thanks to Ms Polius for delivering this course. It was very informative and interesting. The strategies learnt and the activities done will go a long way in helping me become a better teacher.
I feel like there isn’t much studying to be done as I can remember Ms. Polius’ voice replaying vividly in my head. I enjoyed the way you delivered the instruction Ms. Polius! Thumbs up!!

I really enjoyed this course. I have often heard that reading and writing should be incorporated in the maths classroom but i never knew the how to go about doing so. Doing this course taught me how to incorporate reading and writing in the maths classroom and provides me with a repertoire of activities that can be used to create strategic math readers while simultaneously allowing my students to master content.
Thank you very much Ms. Polius.

I am glad that you found the sessions enlightening and of course interactive. Thank you all for your compliments. I think we had a good time.
Now you need to prove to me, just one more time, that what we did together was indeed what you describe. I want nothing but your BEST in the exam on Thursday.

At the beginning of the summer course it was a bit challenging for me to focus because i was in summer mood. However, as soon as assignment were due i quickly went into school mood. I must say that i did gain some very useful knowledge, skills and values from EDCL. I had to rethink my role as a teacher, which is not only to make student read but teach them how to read in my content areas. I also realized that allot of the issues that I faced as an untrained teacher in the classroom could have been avoided if I had used a the appropriate approaches or activities. I am also happy that there were not many group assignment, as I tend to learn more when I am more involved. Nevertheless, I did enjoy that all the groups were formed according to areas of specialization. This gave us a chance to apply concepts in our content area. On the other hand I just wish that we could have had more practice in applying the concepts in real life situations. Again, this was a very beneficial experience and therefore, JOB WELL DONE Miss Polius

It was definitely a tight squeeze but greatly appreciated by me. I know a lot of us work well under pressure so it was a good experience sharing that pressure. It also created the avenue for us to support each other since much group work was done. I even believe that it made it easier for the teachers to manage the work due to less work to look at. I honestly got tired of the group work at one point. I was like "Another group activity?" LOL! But in the end, when I realized the pressure that the lecturers would be under marking 30+ assignments I changed my mentality. So Ms. Polius, I am sorry for making that statement in my mind. LOL. I appreciated the concern you demonstrated to each of us by constantly meeting us one-on-one to check on our status. Keep up the good work. Do not back down. This will mold you into a Dean one day . [glow=red,2,300]Let the love continue![/glow]Craig.
