Re: tessaimable
It is important to develop a sense of community in the classroom where everyone is provided an equal chance of success and everyone feels that they belong. So by the teacher developing a plan of action to address students' various stages of reading development, the class is destined to become more student-centred, accommodative and inclusive.

Re: Mjoseph
. I agree with you. By teachers taking into consideration students' individual stages of reading development-taking an inventory-they become more effective planners of their lessons. Lessons would not be taught by the teacher and students required to engage in activities using a "one size fits all approach", instead the approach would be one that caters to students unique learning needs to facilitate better reading comprehension of texts.

It is important that for teachers to understand Chall's stages of development because these will provide the basis for what the teachers plan for students to read. It will give students an idea of the reading capability of their students so teachers can plan in advance. Also it provides teachers with a measure of where the students should be at so the teacher can try to help students reach that level.

It is important to understand Chall's stages of development because; it provides insight to what level of reading students are at and as a result of this helps in the planning and selection of materials for instruction. Knowledge of these stages also provide assistance in selection of approaches to use to teach students.
