A graphic organizer is a visual communication tool that used to express ideas and concepts, to convey meaning. A graphic organizer often depicts the relationships between facts, terms, and or ideas within a learning task. It is often referred to as a "map" because it can help teachers and students "map out" their ideas in a visual manner.
BENEFITS OF USING GRAPHIC ORGANISERS:
a. Graphic organizers form a powerful visual picture of information and allow the mind 'to see' undiscovered patterns and relationships.
b. Graphic organizers foster Brainstorming. This is a problem solving technique where students are encouraged to spontaneously, quickly, and creatively share ideas while one person writes them down, often in the form of a web.
c. Graphic organizers aid Sequencing. The ideas or events are prioritized or ordered. Teachers sometimes use this technique to help students understand the relationship of events or the hierarchy of information.

Commenting on Mesmin's response, I would define Graphic Organizers as the visual representation of information and refer to the Concept Maps, Story Maps , etc. as examples of different types of Graphic Organizers.
